Kool Keith is My Hero (for today)

So insanely random, yet so genius. I've been guilty of drinking Seltzer from time to time lol...

Corporate Takeover...

More interesting footage from the Roc a Fella circa 2003. Man, this industry can be cut throat sometimes. Insane...

It's the Roc!

This looks REALLY interesting. Though not a huge Dipset fan, I am a big fan of the Rocafella Records circa 2003. Talk about a HEAVY roster. This documentary looks like it's really going to expose some issues nobody ever spoke about. Unfortunately, knowing how Jay is, he won't respond.

Damn, homie... In High School you were the man homie...

What the f*ck happened to you?

Believe it or not, this is Afrika Baby Bam, formerly of the Jungle Brothers. A few months ago, Pharrell had alluded to something when recalling a conversation with Busta. I had no idea what he was talking about... until now. Whoooaaa!!!

...btw, it's great to see somebody like Pharrell paying homage to Primo. That's a side of artists we rarely get to see...

New Release : Serato SL 3 Interface

This just in from our good friends at Tools of War.  My hat goes off to Serato, who never ceases to amaze me:

Rane is proud to introduce a new audio interface for Serato Scratch Live. The new Rane SL 3 is being unveiled at the Musikmesse show in Frankfurt this week and is sure to turn heads in the music world once again.

Rane SL 3

Five years ago, the Rane SL 1 became what is now a modern classic, setting the stage for the future of digital DJing. Like the SL 1, the SL 3 is one tough piece of hardware, built with premium components. Both feature galvanic isolation to prevent computer noise interfering with the audio path. The Rane SL 3 ships with a soft carry case and an international power supply for easy transfers between DJs.

"Our professional customers want a bigger sound from a smaller box with simpler connections, so that's exactly what we've made," reports Steve Macatee from Rane Corporation, "The SL 3 is about minimizing noise and maximizing audio performance."

The SL 3 design concentrates on optimizing sound quality and producing a rugged and compact solution.

The Rane SL 3 is an advanced bus-powered 24-bit USB 2.0 audio interface for Serato Scratch Live. Like all Rane products, the SL 3 is handcrafted in the USA under strict quality control to insure long-term reliability and performance.

At a time when most companies are cutting corners, the SL 3 is a premium product designed with the discerning performer in mind.

"If you play on quality sound systems, make your own music creations, like to remix live or use uncompressed audio, then your crowd will really appreciate the advantage the SL 3 gives you," says Sam Gribben from Serato, "It's the biggest way yet to DJ with Scratch Live, it's an absolute monster of a box!"

The Rane SL 3 has a massive 104 dB dynamic range, allowing plenty of space to mix between vinyl, CDs and Scratch Live with headroom to spare.

The studio grade input preamps are the same as those found in the Rane TTM 57SL performance mixer. Each channel is individually switchable, allowing for a mix of turntables and CD players. The compact design eliminates the need for extra cables, making for a quick and easy set up.

Armed with an extra set of auxiliary channels, the SL 3 opens the doors to future expansion and creative configuration for DJs and electronic musicians.

The Rane SL 1 for Serato Scratch Live continues to be available as the industry standard for digital DJs.

The advanced Rane SL 3 for Serato Scratch Live is shipping now.

--> Better sound quality?  Compatible with both Turntables and CD players?  Extra set of auxiliary channels?  I can only hope that they listened to me when I told them what would really take Serato to the next level would be to add in the capability of a 3rd turntable.  Once they announce that, it's OVERRRRR!!!

Funny...

This might be one of the funniest things I've heard in a long time.  I'd imagine this is how T-Pain's children would sound if they cried...

I first heard this when Diplo dropped it at SXSW a few weeks ago.  Check how he freaks it.  Illness...

March 9 Re:up

Well, as all Hip-Hop fans are well aware, today is the anniversary of the passing of the Notorious B.I.G. In honor of such an occasion, J.Period and I have decided to open the vaults and allow everybody to download both volumes of the "March 9" series, including rare unmixed single versions of the songs (with clean radio versions included).

Enjoy... Rest in Peace Mr. Wallace

Milan Fashion Week Recap

Just got back from a week in Milan, where I was requested by the good folks at Dolce & Gabbana to DJ a few events for them, as well as DJ an event at Milan hotspot, Hollywood. Special shouts go out to the whole team over at Dolce & Gabbana for keeping me busy during my stay. Massive respect goes to Luca. Claudio and the whole Goodfellas crew for holding me down.
It was my first time spinning at Hollywood in Milan, and it was one of the most intense parties I've done in a minute. The energy was crazy, and the people there were letting it all out. One interesting thing about Italy is that House music reigns supreme. Hip-Hop is still, and has always been, more underground. So, needless to say, I got to get my electro house set on. Peep the video below...

Ran into fellow NYC DJ's Jus Ske, Sal Morale and Vitale, who were also in town for the Mr. West party at Hollywood.
